This year's agenda includes a fun and informative presentation on Heuchera from Mt. Cuba Gardens, along with information regarding the Plant Something campaign the NJNLA is launching this year.
Overwhelmed by the incredible number of Heuchera on the market? George Coombs, Mt. Cuba Center’s Research Horticulturist, will recap the findings of their recently completed three-year evaluation of Heuchera, or coral bells. Over 80 cultivars were tested for qualities like vigor, habit uniformity, disease resistance, floral display and sun tolerance. They even learned which cultivars the public favors most! George Coombs is the Research Horticulturist at Mt. Cuba Center. His work focuses on evaluating native plants and their related cultivars for their horticultural and ecological value. He also manages the plant introduction program, for which Mt. Cuba Center has a long legacy. Prior to joining Mt. Cuba, George worked in the nursery industry at both the wholesale and retail level.
